Our company, John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. (JBSS) is actively following the developing situation in relation to COVID-19.
We are in contact with regulators, government entities and food industry associations and are following their guidance in matters related to the viral outbreak. Recognizing
this is a quickly changing situation, we are constantly monitoring and assessing our plans and policies.
These are unusual and unsettling times, and I want to share with you what we are doing to ensure a safe food supply for all our loyal consumers, keep our employees safe, and support our communities.
Our manufacturing plants remain open to enable us to fulfill orders from our customers and ensure that all of you have access to nutritional nut products. The Department of Homeland Security has designated the food industry as a “Critical Infrastructure Industry”, and we take seriously our responsibility to play our part in maintaining the food supply chain.
It is reassuring to know that the Food & Drug Administration has advised that “there is no evidence of food or packaging being associated with the transmission of COVID-19”. At the same time, we want to ensure the safety of our employees and the food supply itself. We have instituted additional cleaning at all our sites, employees that can have been instructed to work from home, and we have restricted travel and outside visitors. To support those impacted economically by the COVID-19 pandemic, we donated three truckloads of peanut butter and assorted snack products to the Chicago Food Depository to aid their efforts to provide meals for children out of school and families in need.
We will continue to work hard to provide safe, healthy, nutritional products and do what we can to take care of our employees and communities. Wishing you and your families good health and safety during these uncertain and increasingly difficult times.
